phone cardsVoice over Internet Protocol (VOIP) is a revolutionary technology which has made long distance calls one of the most economical means of communication. It is cheaper than the best tariff Calling Cards. To have VOIP connection, all that is required is a computer, a modem with broad band connection, speakers or IP phone. The VOIP software can be downloaded and this is available completely free of cost. There are no installation charges or activation charges.

In VOIP there are no connectivity problems and there is no need to dial any numbers. So, one need not fear of any wrong dialing. With a webcam, persons calling can even see each other. This would be a wonderful experience.

The computer, with the help of VOIP software, converts the voice of the caller to digital signals. This digital signal is transmitted through the internet connection to the computer at the other end. There, the digital signal is again converted to voice signal. This entire process is done by the software which is downloaded. Insofar as the rate is concerned, VOIP is the cheapest. In fact, some service providers offer this free of cost. This forced the land line and mobile connectivity providers to substantially slash their call rate.

Communication through VOIP can be made from computer to computer. For this, the computer should be equipped with a microphone. The other method is through an IP phone. The third way is through the normal telephone which is connected to the computer. With all these facilities and reliability, this mode of communication is becoming popular day by day.
